Super Eagles and Al Ain forward, Emmanuel Emenike, announced last night that he is retiring from international football after five years playing for his country. "No more Eagles career", he posted on his Instagram account, deciding to "put full stop" on his playing days with the Nigerian senior national team. The 2013 AFCON top goal scorer and country hero said he was proud to be part of a dream come true and appreciates all his fans for their support at all times. According to him, he is retiring "for the sake of national peace".
Emenike brags of 35 appearances and 16 goals in the national colours. However his drop in form has since been widely criticized with his last goal coming on 13th October, 2013 (over two years) in a 2-1 win over Ethiopia where he bagged a brace.
