President Buhari, following the approval of the Council of State yesterday, has appointed Professor Mahmud Yakubu as the substantive chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Professor Yakubu takes over the reins from Mrs Amina Zakari Bala. Until his appointment, Professor Yakubu, a Professor of history and international studies was the executive secretary of Tertiary Trust Fund and also a member of the 2014 national conference. Meanwhile, Mrs Zakari is now the INEC commissioner, North West.
